Our Trip

Since Wendy and Chris travelled the top end and the Kimberleys in 2004, they always wished to do a big trip around oz with a family in tow. That opportunity has now come to fruition in 2014 as all of our stars have neatly aligned. The main thing is we wanted to take the kids out of school at a reasonable age before they became too settled.

How we were going to do it was always going to be the big question – by caravan, camper trailer, motorhome etc. We decided that because it was a year and we had the kids, that a caravan would be a good option, with the ability also to drop it at any time to camp out into the rougher stuff. The family has always enjoyed rolling out the swags by the campfire.

The route we were going to take was an easy one. The main part of Australia that Wendy and Chris had not seen was the coastline and inland areas between Adelaide up to Broome in Western Australia. This is a big trip in itself with plenty of things to see. So we set the kids a task to draw up up a map, one that was easy to follow of course.

So we came up with the name Broulee to Broome because that essentially will be the bulk of the trip. Our intention is to follow the Murray River across to Adelaide and then follow the coast all the way up Broome (for some reason shown on the map as ‘neon’). If there is plenty of time left we will make our way across the Kimberleys to Darwin (not sure why the word ‘explosion’ is stated on the map here), then on to Cairns before returning down the coast. At the moment we have 9 months off to do this, but who knows we might even take up to a year!!

So wish us well everybody and send us an email. We hope to keep this site updated on at least a weekly basis, and from time to time get the kids to blog as well. See you when we get back!!!!

I love following you blog! Thanks for sharing your adventures :-) Have fun and enjoy every minute!
Mum, Nina and her Husband have been visiting us the last 4 weeks, it was great and terrific mum could make, it being 84 now. We went past your Oma’s place to see a very big modern house build on the block. So things change, that’s life.
    Keep having a fantastic time,
    lots love from Sydney

Hi What a lovely surprise and thank your for the nice card. We missed you to say good bye. We were both really chuffed about the note and both the children are writing clearly. Keep up your maths and English Aimee and the next time we see you I would like to know the answer to 3X4. It was lovely to meet you all and maybe we will see you soon. We are currently in Coral Bay. Swimming and fishing for 2 more days then off to Exmouth. Travel safely see you soon. Yvonne and Harvey (Norman)
